First things first. I have to apologize to anyone that has visited the site in the last few months expecting to find some fresh content. I have been working on some very overwhelming projects and as a result have seriously neglected my blogs.
I would like to tell you that fresh and consistent content is coming, but if I were to say that and then not follow through, well, that would be a good way to kill my site before it really gets going.
I can say for sure that I have plenty to write about and have some good plans for the future of the site. But my workload is a bit heavy right now. I am looking into some outsourcing options so I can focus on what is important to me.
I am currently working on a really cool project that should free up some of my research and writing time. As I mentioned above, I am not going to make any promises about when or how often I will be adding new content, but I can say that the content will be coming, so please visit back regularly.

Alternative Online Investing
Posted on | April 12, 2010 | No Comments
Online investing can absolutely be considered an online day job, especially if you are making a profit. Before I get into the alternative online investing, you should know a little about traditional online investing.
Traditional online investing is basically an extension of the stock market and various traditional investments made available on the internet. Stocks, bonds, IRA’s, and other popular investment ideas.
Alternative online investing, at least the type I want to talk about, is investing in domains. Online investing in cyber Real Estate is an active investment market gaining popularity and momentum, but is vastly unknown to the masses.
Online investing in domains can be a very lucrative and exciting venture to get involved in. Domain investing or online investing in domains is very similar to investing in traditional Real Estate, but with more possibilities for investors with limited investment capital.
Online investing in domains starts in one of two markets and ends in only one market. The starting place for online investing in domains is either; new registration of a domain through a standard domain registar or purchasing an already registered domain on the domain aftermarket. The domain aftermarket is where you will sell your domain investments for a profit.
Domain investing is like any other investment, there is a risk and profits are not guaranteed. The up side to online investing in domains is that like with traditional Real Estate investing, domain investing allows you to increase the value of your domain investment through various improvements to the domain.
Online investing in domains has many BIG players in it and domains can be bought and sold for millions of dollars. Domain values are determined by many variables, but in the end the value of your domain investment is simply what someone else is willing to pay for it.
Some determining factors for domain value
- Domain age – When was the domain first registered? How long has it been since it was pulled from the original registration from the Registars?
- Domain name length – The amount of numbers or letters contained in the domain name can greatly affect the value of your domain name. Usually the shorter and more memorable the name, the better.
- Domain name industry – The industry that your domain name is linked to can also greatly affect the value of your domain value. Certain industries have more activity and more revenue flowing through them making domain names relating to that industry more valuable than others.
- Hyphenated or not – For various reasons, hyphenated domain names tend to be less valuable than non-hyphenated domain names. The main reason for this is essentially the radio test. How will that domain sound when someone speaks it? Will the person that hears the domain name be able to type it into the address bar and find it? Fortunately, hyphenated domains are gaining popularity and many of them have been bought and sold for great sums of cash.
Online investing in domains can take some getting used to, and does require some self education. Most domain investments are just that, investments and expecting a quick return is foolish. When investing in domains, an investor should plan on a minimum of a 12 month investment term unless they are able to apply some of the advanced domain value increasing techniques to their domain investments.
Online investing in domains can be very lucrative and an investor can get started for less than $20. There are many techniques that can be performed to increase the value of your domain exponentially, but that information could fill up several books rather than one little blog post.
List of Freelance Websites
Posted on | March 21, 2010 | No Comments
In my previous post, To Boss or Be Bossed I mentioned Freelance websites. Freelance websites are a very popular choice when it comes to the work from home industry. You can work from home making good use of the freelance websites listed below.
Freelance and Work From Home:
- www.elance.com – Elance is considered the number one Freelance site on the internet by many freelancers and outsourcing businesses and individuals.
- www.rentacoder.com – Rent A Coder has an exceptional reputation and currently has more than 2,600 open projects and over 135,000 buyers seeking freelancers.
- www.guru.com – Guru claims to have the worlds largest freelance market with more than one million freelancers offering their services on the Guru site.
- www.freelancer.com – Freelancer is another very popular freelance site with a very large database of freelancers. Freelancers on Freelancer have earned over $52,000,000.
- www.scriptlance.com – Scriptlance happens to be the only one I have personally used and I am comfortable with. They have a very large database of Freelancers and buyers seeking Freelancers to do work for them.
- www.ifreelance.com – iFreelance takes a different approach, rather than charging commission fees, they charge a membership fee to Freelancers.
- www.topcoder.com – TopCoder is still a Freelance site, but has a completely unique approach to completing projects. All projects are held as a competition where Freelancers do some work in various stages where their work is voted on. The winner of the competition exchanges their work for the prize money. Not my idea of fair, but many people use the service with great results.
- www.project4hire.com – Project4Hire is still very popular with a wide range of categories to choose from, but for some reason they do not receive as much traffic as the other Freelance sites above.
Each freelance site mentioned above is an excellent source for work from home opportunities. If you want to work from home, I highly recommend you spend some time searching the freelance sites above to see if you have any skills that you could market on them.
To Boss or Be Bossed

If you really want to earn a living online, then you must first decide if you want to be the boss or if you want to bossed around. Some people do not want the responsibility of controlling the business and would rather be given orders and paid for their efforts. Some people want to be in total control of the entire business so they can make the rules, decide when and how much they work, and how much they get paid.
There is no greater freedom than working for yourself, but it comes with great responsibility as well. At the same time, working for someone else requires a certain level of responsibility and less freedom. Ultimately in the end it is your decision if you want to be the boss or just another employee that is expendable.
Since I personally want to work for myself, but I at the same time do not want to be the boss, I have limited my field of potential opportunities. You see, I do not want employees, I really want to be a one man show but I also want to make my own hours and pay. There is only so much one person can accomplish on their own.
It would seem that the career choice of many internet income earners is to freelance using whatever skills and talents they may have. There are dozens of online freelance marketplaces where thousands of people and businesses go to have work done. Depending on your skills, proficiency, and reputation, earning a decent income online is as simple as setting up a profile on several freelance sites and bidding on jobs. You are your own boss and you pick what you want to work on. You set your own hours and your own pay.
If by chance you do not currently hold certain marketable skills such as those in demand on the freelance market, many people lean toward the affiliate marketing industry. Affiliate marketing is simply marketing and advertising other peoples products and services. You will need to find one or more quality products or services that are marketable and provide a decent commission. Then you need to put that product or service in front of prospective customers. Affiliate marketing can be done by anyone, but webmasters or website owners generally have an advantage over the average internet surfer because they can utilize their websites for advertising like what I do.
I will admit that I am still learning everyday about marketing and even managing my network of sites, but I can see progress and know that I am moving forward. I have several sites, none of which have a great deal of traffic, but it is simply a matter of time and effort.
If you are interested in getting started in affiliate marketing, do not wait until you think you are ready like I did. It takes time to learn everything you need to be wildly successful. Learn the basics, like; SPAM will only destroy your reputation, not build your income, customers like honesty not hype, and if you would not buy the products or services you are marketing, then why should someone else.
